Clout Success
On Sunday 30th January 2022 we had a healthy 16 turn out for a morning of Clout. Blue skies, no wind made for ideal conditions (although a little nippy when not in the sun). After plenty of chatter, shooting into mid-air, walking back and forth, two stand out scores were applauded, Sarah French with a PB of 56 and Simon Paterson with 70. Great fun!
Christmas Pudding Fun Shoot December 2021
What a fantastic turn out for the annual Christmas Pudding Shoot and we were so lucky that the weather was once again kind to us.
We had a great mix of archers, including Juniors. There were some who turned up to the ‘have a go’ session that I believe turned out to be quite competitive. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you to the Club in 2022.
Results for the shoot were:-
1st Gent – Greg Brooks, 2nd Gent – Steve Fidler
1st Lady – Alison Buck, 2nd Lady – Siobhan Dennis
1st Junior – Violet Turnbull
A good time was had by all and and we hope you all enjoy your Christmas Puddings!
Personal Best
One very happy archer, Steve Fidler, scored a PB at FLC on Tuesday evening. Congratulations Steve for scoring a fabulous 565 on a Portsmouth round.
2019 club championships
September 15th was the day of the club target championships. It was a lovely sunny day and plenty of archers of all abilities and bow types turned up to have a go, right from seasoned archers with their hi tech compound and recurve bows, the guys with their more traditional long bows to our new junior members with their recurves. The medals and awards were given to the winners at the end but really it was about all getting together and enjoying the day.
A good day at the Berkshire championships
Our archers had a very good day at the Berkshire championships. Harry had bronze in the double WA70 with an impressive score of 1014, Martin won the gold in the compound WA50, along with a good portion of the raffle prizes. He wasn’t there to receive his prizes but we were under instructions to ” GET ALCOHOL”.! Steve won bronze in the WA60 novice recurve with a score of 412. I should of shot better than that but it was a bit blowy, the sun was in my eyes, and i’m sure my arrows are wonky plus loads of other excuses. definitely not operator error… 🙂
Bob and Allison were shooting the WA40, Bob scored 485 and Allison scored an impressive 582.! With scores like that they’re ready to tackle the next level up i reckon.!
Emma was also shooting in the compound WA50 but retired part way through due to operator and equipment failure. ! 🙂 The fletch ripped off one arrow and another shattered into 3 pieces ! an achievement like that deserves a medal in itself !!

Southrop Fete – Volunteers Required
Two volunteers needed for an afternoon to support a Have-A-Go.
Saturday 8th June 2019 at 14:00
Southrop Fete are expecting us again this year and Bob Gowland has already managed to rope in four volunteers to run the Have-A-Go so would two others be willing and able to support this event please? It starts at 14:00 so is only for the afternoon. We would need someone who can co-ordinate collection (and return) of all the appropriate equipment including the safety requirements from the hut and the set-up and break-down on site.
If you can help out could you please me know by the end of week please so that we can let Bob know and I can get the event registered with Archery GB.
Many thanks,
