Southrop Fete – Volunteers Required

Two volunteers needed for an afternoon to support a Have-A-Go.

Saturday 8th June 2019 at 14:00

Southrop Fete are expecting us again this year and Bob Gowland has already managed to rope in four volunteers to run the Have-A-Go so would two others be willing and able to support this event please? It starts at 14:00 so is only for the afternoon. We would need someone who can co-ordinate collection (and return) of all the appropriate equipment including the safety requirements from the hut and the set-up and break-down on site.

If you can help out could you please me know by the end of week please so that we can let Bob know and I can get the event registered with Archery GB.

Many thanks,

URGENT – Help for Bampton

My name is Neil Holt and I am the chairman of Bampton Archery club, I also own my own Archery business “Cotswold Archery” which I run with my wife, out of Batsford Arboretum, Moreton in Marsh.

Cotswold Archery have secured a three day Have-AGo at archery activity at this years LECHLADE ANNUAL VINTAGE RALLY & COUNTRY SHOW, for the three days of this bank holiday weekend (Sat, Sun & Mon).

There is potentially a lot of money to made over these three days and we had hoped to join forces with Bampton Archery club members to promote the Club, our business and earn a few pennies.

Unfortunately the great response we were hoping for, from the Bampton Archery club members has not been forth coming and we find ourselves short handed with helpers.

We know this is on very short notice, but we would like to extend an offer to your club members to come in with us on this adventure.

Cotswold Archery will provide all equipment, float and insurance, we just need helpers throughout the days from 9am to 5pm taking money, collecting and sorting arrows, instructing and promoting Buscot Archery / Cotswold Archery.

You are more than welcome to bring any banners / leaflets to display throughout the weekend and we will inform the organiser that you will be attending with us, for any call outs throughout the show.

Cotswold Archery offer a chance for potentially archers of a minimum age 6 to shoot 6 arrows for £2 per person, instructed at all times.

We have 10 entry wristbands for any helpers, that can be used the whole weekend, all we ask is a minimum of 4 hours help at various times of the days over the whole weekend, not necessarily the same people, wristbands can be passed to other members for use, but are only for archery club members and not for family and friends.

There will be a deduction from the takings over the whole weekend of £300, the cost of the stand/plot, the rest will be split between Cotswold Archery, Buscot Archery and a small percentage to Bampton archers for the three people who have offered help on Saturday only.

We look forward to hearing from you by email or phone call.

BPA: Volunteers urgently needed!

Hi All,
We desperately need club members to volunteer to help out at the Young Farmers’ County Show at Kingston Bagpuize on 25 May, and at a Taster Session at our field for a dozen or so from the 41 Club on the evening of Tuesday 18 June from 5:45 PM. There may be another Taster Session for the Young Farmers arranged during the summer.
The County show is an all day event, but if you can’t help all day, then please help for some of it.
Please commit to helping out at one or both of these events by emailing Emma at
Without YOUR help, our attendance at these events is in danger of being cancelled, and the future of these club fund-raisers is in doubt.
The Committee

Committee VACANCY – Club Secretary

As you are no doubt aware, all committee members are required to formally step down from their roles ahead of the AGM.

Please let it be known that due to an ever increasingly hectic work and family life, and the subsequent consequences on my ill-health, I do NOT intend to run for the committee again so the role of Secretary is up for grabs. I stepped in last year as a last measure in order to keep the club going but cannot do so again.

Please let me know know by midnight tomorrow (Saturday 23rd) if you wish to be considered.

Many thanks and best regards,

AGM 2019 – Appointment of Officers, rule changes, etc.

As previously announced, the Annual General Meeting of the Club will be held at Buscot Village Hall on Tuesday 2 April 2019 at 7:15 PM for a prompt 7:30 PM start.
Any proposals and committee nominations need to be with Emma by midnight on Saturday 23 March.
The appointment of Officers and any proposals affecting the Club finances or the Rules and Constitution will be dealt with at the meeting.
Please attend the meeting if you can — it’s a good opportunity to help shape the future of your Club.
Nominations, with seconders, for these or for any other committee posts should be sent to the Secretary, Emma Johnson ( or 12 Elm Road, Faringdon, Oxon SN7 7EJ), to arrive not later than midnight on Saturday 23 March 2019 in accordance with Rule 11(b) in order to be included in the agenda for the meeting. Nominations by email are perfectly acceptable.
The club desperately needs members to participate in its running. For far too long we’ve had committee members having to take on two roles because of the lack of volunteers. This means that some jobs don’t get done.
Any proposals on the Club finances or the Rules and Constitution must be received no later than midnight on Saturday 23 March 2019.
Time permitting, after the main business of the AGM is concluded, the Chairman may at his discretion open the meeting for discussion of other business.
Please bring your cheque books, etc. as Club subscriptions are due by 30 April 2019. It helps the Club considerably when subscriptions are received promptly.
